Ambu Youths receive seed fund from Malaita Youth Council

Ambu Youths in Auki received seed money from Malaita Youth Council after the completion of the two weeks long Mala-I-Tolo Indigenous Guardianship Trust designed training programme targeting youths in in the province.

The training programme allowed ten youths from Ambu cohort to gain basic skills in the areas including: information technology (IT) and e-learning, governance, marketing also provided youths with innovation and entrepreneurship skills.

The idea of providing the youths with the seed fund for motivation, empowerment and recognition of the need for youth to practice some of the basic skills acquired through entrepreneurship, innovation and marketing trainings. Also, these youth are mostly school drop outs and those that did not have the opportunity to complete their studies due to financial constrains that many youths in Malaita and Solomon Islands have experienced. Thus, it is important to ensure they are engaged in activities to detour them from anti-social behaviors and activities, a statement from Auki, said tonight.

Presenting the fund on behavior of the MYC through Malaita Youth Hub Program, President of MYC Mr Philip Subu congratulated the recipients.

He said: “The fund is really small, yet, I would like to utilize the fund to start the business idea that was developed out of the training the was supported by Mala-I-Tolo and offered through the Malaita Youth Hub.”

 Mr Subu also acknowledged Mr Maverick Seda for making the support to the youths available.

President of MYC calls on youths in Ambu and Malaita to continue engaging in activities that would add value to themselves and refrain from activities that would create problem for themselves and the society.

Mr Subu call on leaders, business houses and stakeholders in Malaita and the country to empower youths do activities to improve “our societies’.
