Polls have closed in the Solomon Islands joint elections at 4pm this afternoon.

Ballot boxes have now been sealed and ready to be picked up destined for the counting centres.

Voting opened at 7am this morning and continued until its closing.

One of the presiding officers in Cental Honiara Stephen Tanihorara said they were mostly busy in the morning but not so much in the afternoon.
