Solomon Islands Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Anthony Veke is in Singapore this week for the 19th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue on Security.

The Shangri-La Dialogue began in Singapore from 10–12 June 2022. The Asia-Pacific’s premier defense summit once again brought together defense ministers and senior officials from across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America and beyond, as well as business leaders and security experts, to discuss critical security problems.

Taking place in the wake both of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and intensifying competition between China and the United States, this year’s Dialogue provide a crucial opportunity for delegates from more than 40 countries to enjoy in-person discussions with global defense policymakers.

The Dialogue commenced today (June 10) at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore and in a near-normal, post-pandemic format, after a two-year interruption. The IISS expects around 500 delegates to attend in person from the defense establishments of participating nations around the world.

Besides delivering Solomon Islands country Statement on Saturday 10 June, Minister Veke is also expected to attend a number of vital meetings at the margins of the Shangri-La Dialogue.
