With just days away before the SIM Registration closes on 4th July, unregistered customers are being urged to register their SIM cards to ensure continuous access to mobile services.

Unregistered customers face blackout from accessing mobile services once the deadline lapses in early July.

The Telecommunications Commission of Solomon Islands (TCSI) extended the national SIM registration deadline to 4th July 2025following low registration from customers last year.

This extension provides additional time for all unregistered mobile subscribers to complete the registration of their SIM cards and avoid service deactivation.

Information provided to SBM states that as part of the government’s mandate to strengthen digital security and accountability, SIM registration is now a legal requirement under national telecommunications law. As a result, all customers are required to register their SIMs with accurate personal information and a valid form of identification.

Why Registering Your SIM is Important?

It is now required by law that SIM cards must be registered as well as it helps customers to keep their mobile number safe and secure.

Furthermore, it ensures uninterrupted access to mobile and data services and enables safe and secure use of digital financial services, such as M-Selen.

To register, customers must present a valid ID, such as a Voter’s ID, Passport, NPF Card, Driver’s License, Birth Certificate, or Student ID – similar to identification required when opening a bank account.

“We encourage all customers who have not registered to comply with this important national directive before the final deadline of 4th July 2025 to ensure continuous access to mobile services. Now that the deadline is nearing it is important for unregistered customers to register their SIM as soon as possible, “ Our Telekom said in its awareness message.
