Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Temotu Province have arrested two male suspects for the alledged murder of a 14-year-old female last month.
The incident occurred on the 12th of September 2022 at Mulua bushland in the reef Islands where it was alleged that the deceased was raped before being murdered.
Speaking during the Police weekly press conference, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations, Ms Juanita Matanga confirmed that the suspects were arrested and detained at Lata correctional facilities.
According medical reports, the deceased received a fracture on her skull, nose and also wounds on the right side of her neck.
“My condolences to the immediate family members for the loss of their loved one during this time,” says Matanga.
Matanga also said that investigations on the matter are currently ongoing and appealed to the people of the Reef Islands to work closely and assist police on more information in relation with the matter.
