Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police force (RSIPF) in Tulagi in the Central Province have arrested two male suspects following an alleged unlawful wounding incident involving a 28-year-old male victim at Burunia Village, on Small Ngella on 12 April 2020.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) in Central Province Hugo Maelasi says “Police at Tulagi received the report of the alleged unlawful wounding on the afternoon of Sunday 12April 2020. Not long after that a private outboard motor (OBM) from the village arrived at Tulagi Police station and requested Police to attend to the report. Officers from Tulagi attended to the report.”
PPC Maelasi explains: “On arrival at Burunia Village police apprehended two suspects for the alleged unlawful wounding incident and took them back to the Tulagi police station where they were formally arrested and placed in the cell for further dealing. Police is still searching for another suspect who escaped from the scene of the incident.”
“The male victim has been admitted at the Tulagi Hospital and is yet to make his statement of complaint since he is still very weak and in pain.”
“I would like to sincerely thank and acknowledge police officers who were already at the village to celebrate Easter, members of the Crime Prevention Committee, chiefs and elders from Burinia Village for the partnership and cooperation which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects,” says PPC Maelasi.
The suspects will be transported to Honiara for an application for further remand at the Central Magistrates’ Court in Honiara.
