In the latest development heading into the Motion of No Confidence on Monday, the government has lost one of its ministers and MPs following the resignation of the Minister of Public Service and the Member of Parliament for Rennell and Bellona, John Tuhaika Jr. last night.
Tuhaika was said to submit his resignation last night to the Government House.
This morning, Tuhaika confirmed to SBMOnline that he has resigned from the Government.
“Yes, I have resigned,” he told SBMOnline.
Tuhaika, however, said he would detail his reasons for his resignation on Monday during the MONC on the floor of Parliament.
Tuhaika’s resignation comes only hours after the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) announced that it was rock solid and is prepared to defeat the MONC against their leader and PM Jeremiah Manele.
The MP for Central Honiara and Chairman of Public Accounts Committee Gordon Darcy Lilo is moving the moving against PM Manele.
Tuhaika was newly elected to the seat of Rennell and Bellona during this year’s National General Election.
