The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) through its Turn on the Tap (TOTT) Project has successfully concluded its baseline survey with three schools on West Gizo Island in Western Province.
The participating schools include Titiana Community High School (TCHS), Ngari Primary School (NPS), and Babanga Primary School (BPS).Ngari Community High School (NCHS) baseline survey will be conducted early next year, 2024.
A baseline survey serves as an initial study conducted at the project’s start, gathering essential information on the existing status of a particular situation or subject.
TOTT Project Coordinator, Nedilyn Solomon, and Project Officer, Jeanei Belden, conducted the baseline survey from December 4 to December 11, 2023.
The purpose of the baseline survey is to administer questionnaires to school leaders, gathering information on the current sanitation status.
This information will guide the TOTT project in planning repairs and maintenance of the sanitation facilities in these schools next year.
A follow-up baseline survey will be conducted early next year to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the sanitation needs and improvements over time.
TOTT was funded by ADRA Australia which the project was partners with school leaders, education authorities and provincial service providers to improve access to potable water, clean/safe toilets, sustainable menstrual supplies and effective hygiene education in 21 schools in Western Province.
It prioritizes the needs of girl students and children with disabilities, while building the capacity of school leaders to develop and maintain infrastructure that is compliant with national standards & guidelines.
