The Tikopia/Anuta Ward 16 Seat of the Temotu Provincial Assembly has been declared vacant today by the Speaker of Temotu Provincial Assembly, Honourable Johnson Levela.
Speaker Levela explained that the member concerned Walter Rotopanaki is disqualified by virtue of Section 15(1)(j) of the Provincial Government Act 1997 for failing to attend three meetings of the Assembly.
He said that a letter had been served to the MPA informing him of his disqualification and further confirming that his appointment as a member in the Assembly of Temotu has ceased.
According to Levela, the declaration Notice required under Section 16(2) of PGA 1997 had announced and published in Provincial Notice Board and will also be published in print media.
