Tanangada in Morocco for adult learning & education conference

Solomon Islands Minister for Education and Human Resources Development Hon. Lanelle Tanangada is in Morocco this week for the seventh International Conference on Adult Learning and Education.

The Adult Education Conference began in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco on 15th -18th June 2022. The CONFINTEA VII after 12 years, once again brought together UNESCO Member States, Civil Society Organisations, Education Ministers and Senior Officials from across the world to discuss Adult Learning, Education and Life Long Learning Policies in relation to Sustainable Development Goal 4.

In light of the Pandemic, the Conference dialogues and interventions from countries delegates provided an opportunity for discussions with policy makers on how to ensure Adult Learners and education programs can contribute to sustain learning continuity.

Hon Tanangada representing Asia-Pacific Region was appointed to Chair one of the plenary sessions and delivered Solomon Islands country Statement on Thursday 16th June. In her statement at the Ministerial plenary, she  affirmed Solomon Islands commitment to achieving progress towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4, which is about attaining an inclusive quality education for Solomon Islanders.  She further highlighted our country’s goal and aspiration that all children in the Solomon Islands, regardless of physical, intellectual, social, emotional or linguistic abilities, learn and participate equally and effectively, in safety and free from gender bias.

Hon Tanangada is also expected to attend several vital meetings at the margins of the Adult Learning and Education Conference. Ms Christina Bakolo, Deputy Secretary Strategic (Supervising) of MEHRD is accompanying her at the conference.
