The Solomon Islands Government is more determined to prevent covid-19 from reaching its shores as the global fight against the pandemic continues.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare echoed the message in his fifth weekly national address on covid-19 Friday last week.
Mr Sogavare has made a commitment to keep the nation informed of the actions taken by the Government to ensure the deadly virus is prevented from reaching the country. Solomon Islands is among few countries in the world the remains covid-19 free.
“My good people, this Government remains committed and vigilant in our fight against COVID-19 from entering our shores. Our determination is stronger than ever. Our resolve has never wavered,” Sogavare said on Friday.
He added that Solomon Islands still maintains its COVID-19 free status, and remain amongst the few nations world over that have yet to record a positive case.
The Prime Minister, however, reminded citizens that this feat cannot be maintained by the Government alone but it is a testament to everyone’s collective efforts.
“As such, the Government combined with each and every individual must remain united and vigilant against COVID-19 our common enemy,” Sogavare said.
The Government shall continue to take drastic and proactive measures to protect its citizens.
