Solomon Islands records its highest ever finish in the Pacific Games history, coming 7th with 80 medals of which 12 are gold, 37 silver and the rest are bronze.

Four years ago, Solomons sat on the 13th position with just 4 gold medals and a total of 36 medals.

But at home, the Solomons boosted its gold medals three times and significantly increased its silver medals count so as its bronze.

Several senior sports administrators admitted that there’s a good prospect of Solomon Islands increasing its gold medal count in four years given the facilities now available for “our athletes.”

One of them said Solomon Islands was focused more on ensuring that the facilities were readied for the games.

“Now we have them we hope to further improve in the future games,” he said.
