The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Secretariat has released the first batch of the grant to its Provincial Football Associations (PFA) despite the current FIFA restriction imposed on the national football body.

Under FIFA restriction, SIFF is only entitled to receive only a sum of USD$50,000/SBD$400,000 per month until the restriction status is lifted by FIFA.

SIFF Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Leonard Paia said the Secretariat has finally received the 2018 audit report from the auditors and in the process of submitting it to FIFA.

The first payment of SBD$20,000 administration grant for 2020 will be released to all PFAs this week. This is for the first six months of this year 2020 for administration purposes.

Mr. Paia stressed the importance of retirements as part of good governance and urges all PFAs to sort out their outstanding retirements.

“One of the challenges that we have faced with the auditors last year was lack of appropriate supporting documents. Members are kindly reminded again that part of the Secretariat policy and financial requirement is for PFAs to submit their retirements with appropriate supporting documents,” he explained

“Therefore, we kindly request all members to please retire last year’s payments received from SIFF so that all our accounts are ready for the 2019 audit which has been scheduled to take place in mid-March 2020.

“This is to avoid the similar experience that we had gone through the last year 2019.”

2019 was a challenging year for Solomon football and Paia expresses his gratitude for the support SIFF had received during the last twelve months.

“I wish to take this opportunity once again to thank you all for your support throughout 2019 despite the many challenges that we have gone through,” Paia added.

“Moreover, I wish to acknowledge our members who have shown the strong determination not to allow the financial challenge we have gone through last year to stop them from running their competitions and activities and have continued regardless.

“We salute you for the excellent job done. The Secretariat and the Executive are looking forward to working closely with you again this New Year 2020.”
