RSIPF supports women in the Shortlands during 16 days activism against GBV in Western

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) supported women in the Shortland Islands Western Province to coordinate the 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV) campaign at Nila Catholic Mission on 25 November 2019.

Police Forward Command Post (PFCP) Commander, Kulitanai Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “About 200 women, youth and children in and around inner Shortland Islands gathered at Nila for the program.”

PFCP Commander Lenialu says, “The program included a parade, floating of wreaths and Family Protection Act (FPA) awareness with the theme ‘FPA PROTECTIM UMI’.”

“Communities really appreciated the police presence and thank the RSIPF for taking the lead and supporting the community with the program.”

PFCP Commander Lenialu says, “Community leaders urge police to visit their communities and share information about FPA and other related matters which threatens the communities. My community policing team will work on it to make sure their request must be addressed.”
