RSIPF raids & confiscates kwaso in west Honiara worth $10,000

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station mounted a successful raid at the Karaina settlement in West Honiara confiscating 2,000 litres of kwaso valued about $10,000.00 on 13 August 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “The raid is part of an ongoing crime prevention strategy to curb the increasing trend of antisocial activities from the consumption of the illegal substance in the capital.”

 “There were a total of 50 crude fermented kwaso containers and  2,000 litres of distilled kwaso confiscated during the raid with a street value of $10,000-00,” says PPC Riolo

He explains, “A combined team of liquor officers from Central, Naha and White River police stations led the operation which followed information from members of the public.”

“I want to appeal to our law abiding citizens to provide information that will assist the Police get rid of kwaso from our communities,” says PPC Riolo.

“The police cannot do this alone. It needs the support of our people.”
