The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) Security Planning Committee have conducted a preplanning workshop for the Departmental Directors and Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) in preparation for the upcoming PG23 event at Rove Police Headquarters on 15 February 2023.
The departmental Directors and PPCs workshop is an opportunity to update all on the current security planning arrangements and ensure all the RSIPF Executive have the relevant updated information provided to them in relation to the current status of planning for the upcoming PG23.
The Pacific Game Security Planning Team of the RSIPF focus is to ensure Law and Order is maintained during the upcoming event that will soon to be hosted here in the Solomon Islands in November 2023.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations says, “The team have been working for months in preparation for the upcoming and engagement have been done with a number of internal and external Stakeholders. This includes the Government Services Integration Committee involving all Solomon Island Government Ministries and the Games Organising Committee to continue work together towards the major event.”
AC Thugea says, “The RSIPF is preparing for the major event and operations will involve a huge number of officers to ensure law and order is maintained during the event.”
“This workshop equipped us with a good understanding of the concept for the operational activity and can identify how departments can contribute to a safe and successful PG23. The RSIPF are planning to conduct a number of exercises in the lead up to the event to test the planned security arrangements,” AC Thugea adds.
The Official Launch for the “Safe and Green Games 2023” will occur with the Prime Minister’s address at Lawson Tama schedule for early March 2023.
