RSIPF investigates traffic accident involving G-vehicle this morning

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Centre are investigating a traffic accident, which involve a white Toyota Hilux opposite the Solomon Motor gas station in Honiara on 17 April 2021.

Director of the National Traffic Department Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “The Hilux was travelling in the eastly direction when approaching towards the Yacht club intersection  opposite to Solomon Motor when the vehicle accidently veered off road by climbing up the middle lane island and crashed on to the an electric street light.”

Director Satu says, “As a result, from that very strong impact caused by the Hilux, the electric post to fell off to the other side of the road.”

Superintendent Satu adds, “Officers attended the report and the driver of the vehicle was taken to Central Police Station watch house, arrested and placed in police custody.”

Mr Satu says, “The suspect was released from police custody and taken to Kukum Traffic Centre. He was formally charged for careless driving contrary to section 40(1). Cap 131 and presence of alcohol in person’s blood contrary to section 43A (1) (a). Cap 131 of Road Transport Act.”

Superintendent Satu says, “I would like to strongly warn vehicle drivers not to drink and drive as it will only endanger your own life and passengers. Traffic laws are there to safeguard us.”
