Honiara, Solomon Islands – 26th July 2024 In a bid to bolster the local economy and address the oversupply of labour, a growing need for targeted incentives and protection in the manufacturing sector of the Solomon Islands has been highlighted.
Local business Bulk Shop recently advertised for vacant positions and received over 1760 applications in a two-day period or 880 application’s per day.
Manager Adam Bartlett stated that “This overwhelming response is a stark indicator of the pressing need for more job opportunities within the country. He further emphasised that the manufacturing industry, encompassing sectors like agriculture, food production and value adding in country, has the potential to become a major employer of youth and other job seekers in the Solomon Islands.”
