The Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) at the Western Border between Papua New Guinea and Solomon Island (PNG SI) warned drone users to stop flying drones in the area of operation.

The warning came when the police sighted two drones on 20 July 2022 floated at about 60 to 80 metres high above Harapa police post.

Forward Commander (FC), Kulitanai Police Station, Superintendent Ileen Ukebule says, “At Harapa police post the drone float in the air for about 30 minutes. Shortly after, a small plane which police allegedly believed to be a drone came round the playing ground near the police post a few times and shortly headed north east direction.

Ukebule says, “This is not the first drone incident but in the past weeks the police sighted drones at Kariki and Kulitanai police station.”

Ukebule says, “I appeal to the drone users to refrain from flying those drones in the police area of operation. If you are doing it for a good purpose then please do let the police know about it.”
