Police investigates death of David AKA ArekaNuts

Police are investigating the death of one of Honiara’s well-known personalities on facebook David Horiwaio commonly known as Areka Nuts who died this afternoon in Honiara.

David died in front of the National Referral Hospital, facing the sea, after two men allegedly attacked him after 3pm today.

It was alleged that he had an argument in the hospital area with some people before heading out from the western end of the NRH (behind old morgue) and walked at the back of the hospital in the easterly direction where he met his fate.

An eye-witness who was also interviewed by police told SBMOnline on the crime site stating it was true that two men followed David but only one of them confronted him.

“From what I saw it was not an aggressive attack,” the witness said.

He said the two then left and David was seen sitting amongst a group of people. The eyewitness said it was then that he fell on the ground and died.

Police confirmed that they have arrested one suspect and a witness for questioning.

David AKA Areka Nuts from Masupa in East Are’are was a popular character on social media for his jokes and hairstyle.
