Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 17-year-old male suspect for armed robbery on Sunday (9 April 2023).
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police Station, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said it was alleged that the suspect armed with a kitchen knife, grabbed the victim and pointed the knife on her neck.
He further stated that the suspect then threatened the victim to surrender her phone to him otherwise he would stab her with the kitchen knife. She had no option but had to release the phone to the suspect who then escaped.
Robo said the victim and her friend were doing their research at the Honiara Botanical Garden on 5 April 2023 while the incident occurred.
He said the suspect has been charged for armed robbery and will appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on a later date.
“I urge the community at large to continue supporting the Police in their daily work to make our city a safe and a beautiful place where our citizens and visitors enjoy to live,” he added.
Robo thanked those particular people of the public that have supported the police with information and an arrest was made by the operation team during the Easter period.
