The MP for West Kwaio and Minister of Environment Climate Change Disaster Management and Meteorology Hon. Titus Fika has passed on, the Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, announced this morning.
Sogavare pronounced that the late Fika was called to rest at 2am today at the National Referral Hospital following a prolonged illness.
Sogavare described his passing as a loss of a great champion and leader.
He also expressed his condolences to his brother Stanley Sofu, who is the MP for East Kwaio.
He extended his government’s condolences and sorrow to the people of West Kwaio whom he said he had “served them so well in the National Parliament.”
Fika was a former school teacher, he rose to the level of education secretary of Malaita before being appointed Speaker of the Province.
He was elected to Parliament in the 2019 General Election.
