Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, Trevor Hedley Mahaga, says he hopes “visa free entry” between Solomon Islands and Australia will become a reality one day.

Speaking at the opening of the newly refurbished immigration counter in Honiara this week, Mahaga commended Australia for its support to various sectors, especially his ministry.

He thanked Canberra for the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) programme, which he said provides valuable work opportunities for Solomon Islanders, strengthens skills, and supports families.

“As close neighbours, we welcome the day when visa free entry is a reality between our nations,” said the MP for Gao/Bugotu.

Mahaga said Australian assistance has helped his ministry deliver changes that benefit communities across the country.
