Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Temotu Province, Superintendent James Toaki says the accused appeared before the court with two counts for assault causing actual bodily harm and five counts for domestic violence.

Initial report stated that the accused always used weapons such as knives and sticks to harm the victims.

According to Toaki, the accused did it several times in one year to his immediate family members, of which the victims were his wife and her two biological daughters.

The matter was reported to Lata police and the suspect was arrested.

Toaki in welcoming the ruling says this is a good decision made by Lata Magistrates’ Court on such issues.

“Now the accused is facing justice for his own actions and calls on the good people of Temotu Province to always respect our women and girls,” he said.
