Man dies after branch of tree falls on him in logging camp on Malaita

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a dead incident at liwe camp in South Malaita.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr Leonard Tahnimana said the Auki police investigation team has attended to a logging accident which involved a 47-years-old male deceased who worked for Jubilant Company as a chain saw operator.

Tahnimana said it was alleged that the deceased was felling a log at that time and accidently a branch of another tree nearby attached to the tree the deceased was felling snapped and hit the deceased’s head who died instantly.

The deceased was taken by Police to Rohinari clinic for medical examination and thereafter repatriated to his home village in West Kwaio.

Tahnimana shared his condolence to the immediate family members for the loss of their loved one during this dark moment.
