Man cuts victim several times after breaking into his house at night

Auki Police have arrested a suspect who cut a victim in his 20s with a bush knife early Wednesday (8^thJanuary) at Maofa village in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said it was alleged that the suspect entered the victim’s house and attacked him several times with a bush knife.

Tafoa said the victim was asleep at the time of the incident, woke up when the suspect broke the door and entered the house. The victim tried to defend himself but was unable to withstand the attack.

Tafoa said the victim is in stable condition but under the care of medical authorities at Kilu’ufi Hospital for treatment.

“I appeal to the people of Maofa village to refrain from further retaliation and allow police to deal with the matter,” said PPC Tafoa.
