Relatives to repatriate deceased back to villages.

JUNE 17th 2022 – Honiara, Solomon Islands. Honiara City Council is making a call for families and relatives to repatriate their love ones (decease) back home to their villages.

This follows after COVID restrictions on movements out of Honiara Emergency Zone is now lifted, and travelling to and from Provinces is back to normalcy.

In a statement, the City Clerk Justus Denni said this is because the Kola Ridge Cemetery is now full and land for new cemetery is still to be fully secured and prepared.

“There is now no restriction for ships, airplanes or vehicles to transport any dead body out from Honiara so we are kindly asking families and relatives to repatriate the body of any deceased family member or relative back to home village,” said the City Clerk.

Meanwhile, the Working Committee for the new cemetery land is now discussing a Master Plan for the new site.
