Speaking in Visale at the CARE coalition launch for their candidate Bodo Dettke, Wale said he is aware that there are leaders out there that are criticising CARE policies as saying they are unrealistic.

“I understand that a former Prime Minister, finance minister and also the caretaker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is going around telling people that CARE policies are unrealistic and cannot be done,” he said.

Wale said in fact these people have been in power for so long and they are making these statements because they do not know how to do it and they do not even care to do it.

“Sogavare have been Prime Minister for so long and I understand he is complaining because he cannot do it. That is why it is time for him and the DCGA to move over and let us show them how it is done,” Wale said.

The former Opposition Leader said as a member of the Public Accounts Committee for many years they have seen that Government Budgets have always reflected a no care government.

He said millions of dollars have been prioritised elsewhere and corruption in Government is eating up money every year that could be put to good use.

“The Auditor General’s report itself has informed that Solomon Islands loses $500 million dollars each year to corruption. These are money that should be put to good use for the education of our children,” he said.

The former Opposition Leader has cited the outgoing Government’s 2024 Budget is an example.

“In the 2024 budget, $40million have been allocated for the refurbishment of the PG 2023 national stadium whilst only $30million was the allocation for medicines all around the country. This reflects a no caring government and that is why they are blind,” he said.

He said if the PG 2023 can cost $4 billion then why couldn’t we do the same for education and health in this country.

“It is because the Government’s priorities are wrong,” he said.

Wale acknowledged that it is good to have ambitious policies because it gives you the determination to achieve them.

He said if other countries can do it why not Solomon Islands.

Wale said CARE policies can be done although, acknowledging the backlashes that will arise during its implementation but we must start somewhere and put and end to the business as usual.

“We cannot do it because this country is stuck with a leadership that does not know what to do and leaders that do not even care for the future of the children of Solomon Islands,” he said.
