Several of the 13 containers of medical supply will be out this week, minister of health and medical service Dr. Paul Popora Bosawai confirmed to SBMOnline this morning.
Amongst the supply is gauze, which has run out of supply in the country and other medicines, said Dr Bosawai.
He admits that it’s a long standing issue and he’s dealing with it.
Many hospitals and clinics have reported that they are running out of basic medicine including panadol.
Over the weekend, local businessman Michael Leong had to intervene and supplied surgical gauze to the NRH enabling surgeries to take place. Â Surgeries at the NRH had been put on Emergencies only thus no elective surgery was carried out because of lack of surgical gauze whilst dressings in the clinics have been done with rationing procedures.
