A first direct flight from China to Solomon Islands will arrive in Honiara tomorrow (Thursday), PM Jeremiah Manele told Parliament.
This is the first direct flight after the two countries signed a visa waiver agreement in early November for ordinary passport holders.
Manele pointed to the agreement as one of the achievements by his seven and half months old Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT).
He told Parliament: “We have also signed reciprocal visa on arrival arrangement with the PRC for ordinary passport holders.”
He also revealed that a first direct flight from China to Honiara will arrive tomorrow.
SBMOnline understands that the flight is expected after 2pm tomorrow and there will be a water canon welcome to mark the beginning of the direct flight.
