Parliament will debate and dive into the details of the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) when it meets next month as it is already been put on notice as a motion by the Leader of Opposition.
Provisional business paper provided to the media yesterday showed that Leader of Opposition has already notified parliament of the motion.
The audit report into the ESP has caused public outrage and there is demand for further action into the findings of the Auditor General’s findings.
The findings revealed abuse of imprests with clear breaches of its governance and there were politicians implicated as recipients of the fund. The ESP was around $309m intended to stimulate the economy as a result of the COVID-19 impacts.
Whilst police is still waiting on the OAC for further action, the public will be given the opportunity to hear the MPs’ debate the report and go page by page seeking answers from the responsible ministries.
Parliament will go into the Committee of the Whole House to consider the ESP Report which was released by the AG last might.
Parliament is expected to sit for the budget as of November 4 as by the provisional business paper.
