COMPREHENSIVE CONSULTATION PROCESS ON EDUCATION BILL SETS THE BENCHMARK: WALE

THE Leader of Opposition Hon. Matthew Wale has commended the Ministry of Education’s commitment to an extensive and thorough consultation.

Hon. Wale, a strong advocator for public involvement in the legislative process, highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to a comprehensive consultation process during his Parliamentary debate speech on the Education Bill.

“Over the years, the Ministry has engaged in thorough consultations regarding the Bill. Many stakeholders have expressed their recognition and appreciation for the Ministry’s endeavour,” Hon. Wale said.

Hon. Wale said that the depth and breadth of the consultations done by the Ministry were imperative for an issue as pivotal as the education system.

According to Hon. Wale, such an approach was essential to ensure that the proposals contained in the Bill meet the needs of our country.

While acknowledging the existing gaps within the Bill that Government must still rectify, Hon. Wale described the Ministry’s consultation process as the standard for other ministries to follow.

“This Bill epitomizes excellence in legislative formulation. Other ministries must learn from the Ministry of Education in this matter,” Hon. Wale said.
