The Australian Government has provided a power boost to Don Bosco Tetere Rural Training Centre (RTC) in the form of a new 5KVA generator and two barrels of diesel to enhance the school’s digital literacy and agribusiness training.

This contribution is part of a partnership between the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) and Don Bosco Tetere RTC, and builds upon recent support from Australia, which included ICT equipment, agricultural equipment, agribusiness equipment, and a vehicle. These contributions aim to strengthen the delivery of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs at Don Bosco Tetere RTC.

The impact of this equipment goes beyond providing reliable power to the RTC. This new generator will enhance the school’s business operations and generate power for staff and students. This will allow students to fully utilise the laptops recently provided by Australia through APTC and to gain valuable experience with ICT tools.

Father Peter Van, Principal for Don Bosco Tetere RTC, expressed his gratitude for the Australian Government’s support through APTC. “This kind support will directly address our need for a reliable power source to operate our training effectively,” he said. “Our current power supply was insufficient to run our ICT equipment and support crucial administrative tasks.”

Ms Abigail Chang, APTC’s Country Director for Solomon Islands and Kiribati, highlighted the growing partnership between APTC and Don Bosco Tetere RTC. “Our collaboration began in 2020 and has steadily strengthened,” she said. “We are committed to working together to deliver high-quality skills development programs in Solomon Islands.”
