Woman raped before being murdered as police search for killer(s)

Police are investigating the death of a woman whom they believed was raped before being murdered on Wednesday this week at the Guadalcanal Plain. The suspect(s) are still on the run.

A statement from police this afternoon states that Tetere police are investigating an alleged murder incident of a 29-year-old woman at the Cocoa area(old CDC4) GPPOL II in north Guadalcanal on 21 May 2025.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Edwin Sevoa said it was alleged that the suspect raped the deceased and murdered her between 11am and 12pm.

He further states that police have identified injuries on the deceased’s head when they attended to the report.

The deceased is from North Malaita and resides with her husband in the Cocoa area and has a small baby still breastfeeding.

Sevoa said the body of the woman is at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) morgue, and the investigation is ongoing.

The provincial police chief appeals to anyone who might have any information to come forward and assist them.

He said the suspect is still at large, and police are working behind the scenes to arrest the suspect.

Police shares condolences with the friends, relatives, and immediate members for the loss of their loved one.
