The political number game has taken a shift tonight with the government gaining one MP from the Opposition camp being sworn-in as the new minister of rural development.
North Malaita MP Daniel Suilea Waneoroa was shown in as the new Minister for Rural Development four days after ten MPs from the government side including former PM Manasseh Sogavare deserted the ruling GNUT coalition.
With the motion set for Tuesday next week and the government were two members short of the simply majority, Waneoroa, who was a member of the Opposition since his election last year had crossed to the government side.
He replaces the MP for South Guadalcanal Rollen Seleso, who was the minister of Rural Development and amongst those who deserted the government last week.
He’s also the parliamentary leader of the Umi For Change party.
