The operation was purposely to observe people in our city doing their business freely without fear of any crime, the police statement said.

The high visibility foot patrol team covered Central market, point Cruz Central Business District (CBD) areas and Government offices and controlled traffic jams at the Central market entry and bus stop, town council bus stop and Holy Cross pedestrian crossing.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent Jimson Robo says a total of six suspects were arrested during the operation for different offences.

Four suspects were arrested for consuming liquor in public place, one for driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and one for possession of Illegal drug (marijuana).”

The suspects were dealt with and charged with the offences committed to appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

“I want to thank the public for their support and cooperation while officers are on high visibility. Let us continue to work together to keep our city peaceful and free of crime. I also want to thank officers who take part in the High visibility for their hard work,” says Robo.
