A total of 70 plus vehicles were checked and five arrested for driving unlicensed vehicles during the past weekend as the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force’s (RSIPF) Traffic Department continued their operations.

Speaking during his weekly press conference, Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau urged vehicles drivers to respect police officers after there were few reports of officers having few confrontations with some of the drivers whom were under the influence of alcohol.

“As part these preparations towards the 2023 Pacific Games, we are scaling up our policing functions to ensure that safety is available and also to face any issue we might face during the games as we all know there will be a huge number of people coming to our shores”.

“Police are also scaling up our operations in terms of traffic and also anti social behaviours and will also run our operations to polish up our town in terms of law and order”, said Commissioner Mangau.
