About 300 plus property owners within Guadalcanal Province’s jurisdiction are urged to pay their outstanding bills of $18.9 million dollars in this 2023-2024 financial year.

Chief of Guadalcanal Province Law Enforcement Division (GPLED), Mr. Caleb Rufus Pituvaka had issued the statement after the outstanding Property Rates for the 2023-2024 financial year were published through the Guadalcanal Provincial Government Social Media page today morning.

β€œMy LED team will work closely with our Revenue Division team to follow up on the property rates from our valued property owners to ensure that they pay their bills accordingly” Chief Pituvaka stated.

He then acknowledged the few property owners who already inquired the GP Revenue Office on how to settle their debts this morning.

“I would like to acknowledge the few property owners who took the right approach to settle their outstanding bills this morning. They’re practing good citizenry and I hope everyone of our customers can follow suit” Mr. Caleb said.

He continued “Our aim is to work closely with our GP Revenue Division to build a friendly environment with our valued customers so they can pay their bills in the timely manner rather than these continuous reminders”.

The GPLED Chief then summarized “It is our moral obligation to settle our bills, so there’s simply no exception here” he said.

In addition, Chief Revenue Officer, Mr. Guy Jagabatu also explained that Guadalcanal Provincial Government relies on its local revenues to deliver the much needed services around Guadalcanal.

He stated “Tax avoidance has long been a norm for some property owners; thus, GP Revenue Division will not tolerate such bad practices”.

Property Rates is defined as the β€œactual amount of money to be paid by a rateable owner as tax on their property based on valuation and area” in this case Guadalcanal Province’s jurisdiction.

The Guadalcanal Province’s Property Rates (Tax) is calculated by the Unimproved Value of the property owner’s rateable land under residential, commercial and industrial properties.

GP Media also released a similar property rates statement in November last year.
