Wong to visit Honiara on Friday

The Australian Foreign Minister, Hon. Penny Wong, will visit Solomon Islands this Friday, 17 June, for a one-day program.

This will be her first since the Anthony Albanese Government came to power less than a month ago.

Details of the trip show that Wong will arrive in the just before 11am then head straight to meetings in the capital before leaving back to Australia at 6pm.

Wong will be accompanied by High Commissioner Dr Lachlan Strahan and senior officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade during her program.

Various elements of the programme have yet to be finalized but the Australian minister is also expected to meet with the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.

Also in the programme, Wong will also visit Burns Creek community where the delegation will meet with Guadalcanal Premier, Premier Sade, community leaders and SIAF members.
