Woman who tries to stop loud music punched & pulled to the ground

A woman who approached a group of boys to stop playing loud music on an early morning was punched on the face and was pulled down to the ground by one of the boys of a group at Vara Creek recently.

A RSIPF Media Unit statement states that the initial report reveals that the complainant was awakened by a loud music from drunken boys in the early hours on that day at Vara creek area in Central Honiara. She got up and approached the boys to stop playing loud music, which was causing disturbance. Police says it was alleged during that time the accused grabbed her hair, pulled her down, and punched her on the face with his right hand closed fist. The statement further states that he also scratched her chin using his sharp nails and as a result—the victim has sustained minor bruises on to her body.

RSIPF officers at the Central Police Station in Honiara have arrested and charged a male suspect for domestic violence in June this year

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent John Matamaru says the matter was reported to the Central Police Station by the victim and investigation was carried out and the suspect was later arrested and placed in a cell at the Central Police Station watch house. He was later released and dealt with accordingly.

The suspect was charged with the offence of domestic violence- physical abuse contrary to section 4 (1) (a) and section 58 (1) and (2) of the Family Protection Act.

The accused was bailed to appear at the Honiara Central on 10 August 2021.
