UPDATED: Woman dies after partner allegedly stabs her from the back of her neck

A man allegedly struck his partner with a knife from the back of her neck resulted in her death today at Niumanda village near Gizo in the Western Province.

Reports reaching SBMOnline state that the man stabbed his partner from the back of her neck and the knife went through to the front of her neck.

“It was a brutal attack and it did not look good,” said one person who spoke to those in the village.

It was not clear what led to the fatal stabbing incident.

A RSIPF statement quoted the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu stating that will be alleged that the stabbing incident happened between 11am and 12pm today.

It was alleged that the suspect used a 30cm small knife, stabbed the girl, who sustained two wounds on her back neck and died instantly.

Lanialu says the motives behind the stabbing incident would depend on the investigation and at this moment “we cannot speculate as police is still investigating the matter.”

According to the WP commander the deceased and the suspect had been staying together for almost a year but not legally married.

SBMOnline understands that the RISPF is also sending its forensic officers to the crime scene purposely to get more details about the killing.

RSIPF Media Unit also confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and now in Police custody –and police is investigating the case.
