WFWP Solomon Islands donate laptops to New Hope Academy

Tuesday 23 January, Honiara – The Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Solomon Islands in partnership with WFWP Victoria on Friday 19 January 2024 handed over four donated laptops to New Hope Academy (NHA) School.

The laptops were donated to the New Hope Academy Education Provider, Kindergarten Schools strand, Primary School Strand, and their Secondary School Strand.

The laptops were received by New Hope Academy School Chairperson Dr Namo in the presence of WFWP Executive Board members and students.

This marks another milestone to fulfil one of WFWP Solomon Islands’ mission project through education.

Speaking at a handover ceremony during the school’s general assembly, WFWP SI President, Mrs Monica Longanimala Ilala said in partnership with WFWP Victoria they strongly believe that these laptops will be used as a useful learning tool for both the three strands of NHA school teachers and students.

“It will ease the teachers daily lesson planning material and delivery of quality teaching service efficient and effectively.

“We hope these donated laptops will truly help to create a positive change to better learning environment at NHA School. This will add more value to a better learning education environment and ease the methods of teaching and learning to e-teaching, e-learning and virtual learning environment where digital resources and systems are more readily available to schools and the engagement between educators and learners will be more advanced,” she said.

Mrs Ilala stressed that these donated laptops shall not be used as individual use or benefits but for the use and mutual benefits to the NHA School and benefits of all teachers.

“On behalf of WFWP SI Executive team and WFWP Victoria, Australia Executive team, we wish the NHA Education Provider and NHA School teachers and students’ good luck and all the best for a successful 2024 academic year. Smart learning creates smart citizens,” she said.

Mrs Ilala also highlighted some of their support towards through education.

“In partnership with WFWP Victoria Australia we provide and coordinate scholarship for young girls, women, and supportive men.

So far, we have been sponsoring one female student graduate in Master Business Administration [MBA] at USP SI Campus, one female student graduate with Bachelor of Nursing at SINU and tree female students graduates as teachers at SINU,” she said.

WFWP SI is currently sponsoring two students, one young female studying Bachelor of Law and Management at USP SI Campus and one fortunate supportive male student studying Bachelor teaching in New Testament Studies at Solomon Islands National University.

WFWP SI also donates library books to schools and electric sewing machines for Home Economic classes.

Mrs Ilala said WFWP also empowering Women through sewing training, capacity building trainings, character education and family values, empower women and girls to be self-reliable in their family.
