The World’s 100m sprint King and former Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bold had ran past the Solomon Islands Pavilion as he inspired students to continue pushing boundaries and achieve their goals.

Multi-award-winning athlete Usain Bolt took part in a 1.45-kilometre family fun run at the Expo 2020 Dubai on Saturday, November 13 to raise funds for charity.

A partnership between the athlete, Gatorade and the Sports, Fitness and Wellbeing Hub at Expo 2020, brought Bolt to Expo 2020 Dubai, where he took part in a 1.45-kilometre family run to raise funds for Al Noor Rehabilitation and Welfare Association for People of Determination.

The event was free to enter and open to the public, so hundreds of runners participated, running with the retired Jamaican sprinter who is the world record holder in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 x 100 meters relay.

Sport-loving students of determination from Al Noor also participated in the family run, along with their families, running alongside Bolt, 35, who won eight Olympic and 11 World Championship golds in his career.

Solomon Islands Deputy Commissioner General and Pavilion Director Dennis Marita said that it was a privilege to witness the presence of such a prestigious world class athlete in person and hopes that Bolt’s high end sporting achievements can inspire our athletes in the Solomon Islands as we start preparing for the Pacific Games in 2023.

“Bolt was such an inspiration to many aspiring athletes who come from the developing world like the Caribbean. If such a small country like Jamaica can produce such a top-class athlete, Solomon Islands is no exception”.
