Tabalia Bridge disconnected from road on West Guadalcanal

One of the key bridges on the west of Guadalcanal, the Tabalia Bridge, has been disconnected fro the main road after last night’s heavy rain.
Photos sent to SBMOnline show one part of the bridge has been disconnected as flood has washed away gravel and sand linking the southern end of the bridge (Honiara direction side) and the road.
“Currently vehicles and passengers are stranded at both ends of the road,” one resident Tabalia told SBMOnline.
They are now appealing to responsible authorities to quickly deal with the problem to re-link the west side and Honiara.
It is not clear if Tabalia Bridge is the only one damaged following the rains overnight
