Solomon Ports transformation continues with the opening of its newly completed Port Terminal Gatehouse Exit this morning by the new Chief Executive Officer George Rausi.

The new gatehouse exit is a critical infrastructure that eases exit out of the international port’s arena to the public—allowing two vehicles departure and around 70 outbound on a busy day.

CEO Rausi said the exit gate is not just an infrastructure but it is a symbol of progress, efficiency and a step towards “improving our future operations.”

He added that it is also a critical part of their ongoing plans and it represents a major facelift for SIPA’s facilities in ensuring that Solomon Ports remains competitive and a reliable gateway for trade.

Rausi emphasized that it would also help with the traffic management and cargo that come in and out of the ports—stressing that it would also reduce congestion at the ports especially cargo and vehicles.

The $1.5m project also includes a pedestrian entry where both visitors and workers of Ports will have to undergo security screening before entering the ports facilities.

Chief Information Officer Ellison Pade said the exit gate allows for two vehicles to leave at once and there is a bigger space than the old one.

Pade said the opening of the exit-gate today also marks a significant milestone as Solomon Ports is the only regional port that has a two-way exit.
