Solomon Islands twin brothers are the voices behind the mic—entertaining goers to Australia’s newest kava bar in Brisbane.
Franco and Blanco Tuhaika are no strangers to Brisbane having worked and lived there for the past ten years. The boys from Rennell and Bellona and Isabel often light up the Vanuatu owned kava bar on weekends
“We entertain here every Friday and Saturday nights,” Blanco told SBMOnline on Saturday night.
The brothers attributed their close connection to the owner of the bar Alfred Quai as the drawing factor—adding that “we are all brothers.”
It’s always good to represent “our country here,” Franco adds— especially in an environment that brings Pacific Islanders together.
The twins often perform reggae and other popular music of the past at the kava bar.
The first Ni-Van kava bar, Vatu Maeto Kava Bar, opened in North Brisbane, Australia, in November.
The bar initially operates on weekends, catering to kava enthusiasts.
Quai emphasized that the kava, imported directly from Vanuatu, aims to create a welcoming environment not just for Ni-Vans, but for all Pacific families in the community.
