Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has welcomed Solomon Islands athletes home from the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan (CNM) in his national address today (June 28).
The team arrived yesterday and are currently serving quarantine.
Team Solomon put on a tremendous performance and came home with 29 medals, our highest-ever medal tally in any Pacific Games.
The participation of team Solomon to the games had been funded by the government through the National Hosting Authority (NHA).
“I am proud that my government had also built the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sports that assisted in the training and build-up of our athletes. Team Solomon – welcome home. Congratulations and thank you for making our country proud,” Sogavare said.
The NHA is exploring options to ensure all members of Team Solomon do get basic support during quarantine.
