Social Sector ministries committed to deliver on Gov’t Development Programs

Line Ministries under the Government’s Social Sector are fully determine to move forward together in collaboration to achieve the Government’s Development Budget programmes and plans.

This was what transpired during a consultation hosted by the Social Sector Division of the Policy Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (PIMEU) together with seven Social sector cluster ministries.

As part of the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA)’s strategy to organize around its Redirection policies, the 2021 development budget implementation and deliberation on policy priorities for the 2022 budget, the PIMEU under the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is collaborating with cluster ministries from various sectors.

Speaking during the official opening of the program yesterday, PIMEU’s Policy Coordinator Mr. Jimson Tanangada highlighted the Government’s main overarching objectives of containing the COVID- 19 and keeping the economy afloat as the driving force behind the need for a proper collaboration and in response to the Government’s plans to reopen the borders. 

Mr. Tanangada acknowledged that the programme is an opportunity to talk about challenges and issues and resolute to better strategies for 2022.

Presentations on the achievements, progresses, and challenges on the implementation of the programmes under the 2021 Development Budget was made by representatives from the Social Sector Cluster ministries.

As a way forward, based on challenges faced during implementation as shared through the presentations, better collaboration and coordination were key commitments highlighted for an efficient and effective rollout and implementation for future Development budget program.

The programme is supported by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury together with the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination and the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
