The Solomon Islands Council of Trade Unions (SICTU) commends the Government for its recent constructive engagement with key public sector unions — the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association (SINTA), the Solomon Islands Nurses Association (SINA), and the Solomon Islands Allied Health Association (SIAHA).

The discussions, which addressed critical welfare issues affecting members across government ministries, mark a positive step toward strengthening cooperation and industrial relations. Our members in education, health, and allied services are the backbone of the public service, and improving their working conditions is vital to a strong and effective sector.

SICTU welcomes the Government’s willingness to engage directly and respectfully with SINTA, SINA, and SIAHA to find practical solutions. We urge all parties to maintain this momentum until tangible improvements are achieved.

SICTU also congratulates the Ministry of Public Service, the Solomon Islands Public Employees Union (SIPEU), and all stakeholders for the significant progress of the Public Service Bill in Parliament. Modernizing this legislation is an important step toward building a more efficient, accountable, and merit-based public service.

As the umbrella body for trade unions in Solomon Islands, SICTU remains committed to advocating for workers’ rights and promoting constructive partnerships between unions, government, and employers for the sustainable development of our nation.
