SIBC BOARD INTRODUCES NEW CEO TO PM

State Owned Enterprise, Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation has formally introduced its new Chief Executive Officer to the Minister responsible for Broadcasting, Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Damukana Sogavare.

Chairman of the SIBC Board, Dr. Alpheaus Zobule introduced the new CEO, Johnson Honimae to the Prime Minister during a courtesy call Tuesday this week.

“It is my pleasure to introduce SIBC’s new CEO to you Prime Minister. Mr. Honimae is not new to SIBC. The board has every confidence in the Corporation’s new CEO, right man to lead SIBC going forward,” said Dr. Zobule.

Dr. Zobule thank Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare’s Government for the continuous assistance to the Corporation especially the annual subvention. 

Aware of the need to diversity the State Owned Enterprise, the board believes, Mr. Honimae’s experience in leading national and regional media is SIBC’s gain, adds Dr. Zobule.   

He said, SIBC is honored to be serving the nation as the National broadcaster.  

“We are very well aware of our responsibility as the national broadcaster”.

CEO Honimae is thankful to the Government for SIBC’s current board composition.

“As a former SIBC CEO, this is one of the best qualified board of directors appointed to the Corporation.”  

He adds, with the government’s annual subvention this year, run down studio equipment and standby generator replacement will be prime expenditures.   

It will also meet shortfalls from sales in this time of COVID 19.

Congratulating the new CEO, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare told the board, “you have the right man for the task.”

The Prime Minister further instructed his officials to follow up on Government Ministries to pay up their debts. Total debts owed to SIBC by various government Ministries and institutions is 2. 3 million dollars. 

He adds, SIBC has the backup of the government of the day. Development partner approaches for assistance should be consulted through the right conduit.

“Let us continue to talk to improve active support for SIBC,” said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said, although not a monopoly, SIBC is far reaching. It is therefore the duty of the Corporation is to ensure information fed to our rural masses are correct and factual.
